Snapshots...

This past weekend, we packed up our bunch, and headed to sunny (and unseasonably warm) California to celebrate my dad's wedding... it was a blast. We stayed at the Diamond Hotel, an absolutely gorgeous, historic, boutique hotel in Chico, CA. I'm guessing their balconies have rarely featured such elegant guests and these: The town of Chico is truly like something from a movie... large playgrounds and ponds under giant shade trees. This was among Trevor's favorite spots... although completely enclosed and safe, it was so high it made me incredibly nervous. His sister loved it too... but in her case, my nerves rendered me near comatose, which might explain the lack of photos of Tatum.
This slide was a little more my speed...
A self-portrait...
A short walk from the hotel, sits a lovely little square and fountain. Leave it to the Texans to steal the opportunity to strip to their swimsuits and get wet...
Trevor made his way to the nearby stage where he informed us we were watching "The greatest show in the wooooorld."
The kids were super excited to head to the post-rehearsal BBQ...
Probably because they were riding in this:
The BBQ was short lived... both kids decided to initiate melt-down within the first half hour and we decided to cut bait and head back to the room. There was no sense in tiring them out, especially considering all the fun to be had the next night at the wedding!

Thankfully, both kids took marathon naps right before the ceremony and were in pretty great moods. It helped tremendously that the buffet included watermelon. As for the ceremony? Well, we missed a large portion of it after a bribery backfire. I'd stashed away loads and loads of Smarties to keep the kids' mouths busy during the ceremony. Little did I know that Trevor would decide Smarties are among the most detestable things he's ever eaten. My "quiet" candy, elicited gagging and "yuck!" noises as Trevor sat with his head between his knees, spitting. We went for a walk instead.
These are my dad's parents... such a sweet picture...even sweeter when you notice her chair waiting beside the dance-floor.
This is called the morning after:
As if we hadn't had enough entertainment already, there was also an airshow in town. We headed to the airport with my brother, Bryan and his wife, Keli.
We made it home, without much of a fuss and are already missing all the family we got to see. We didn't get many pictures from the actual ceremony, I've already begun pestering my family members to send me the pics from their cameras... I'm sure I'll post them as soon as they arrive in my inbox!

Reality sunk in soon after we arrived home... when we picked up our dog, Goliath, from the boarding place, we learned he discovered an ulcer on his cornea. The poor little guy is in a fair amount of pain, is wearing a cone, and is enduring painful eye drops several times a day. If he doesn't improve in a couple days, he may face surgery. Poor, poor thing. We also found out last night that while we were gone, someone managed to make three $500 ATM withdrawals in Texas using Nathan's card. We are still sorting out how in the WORLD that happened... they didn't have Nathan's card, it was in his wallet our entire trip! Our bank is being super awesome about it all. So bizarre.

I feel terrible! I saw you today and forgot to ask about Goliath...I saw on FB that he had issues. So glad the trip was a success. Can't wait to hear more play-by-plays!

The ATM thing-baffles me how that stuff happens! How in the world?????? Glad the bank is on your side!

I'm so glad you all had fun!!! I love the pictures!

I'm so sorry for sweet Goliath...all I can say is wow. Poor thing.

Once Matt's credit card got used in California...but we were in Texas and had his card. The credit card company told us that store employees will just try different combination(s) of numbers until they can make one work. That is weird with the ATM though...you would think you would have to have the pin code. Hopefully you got that all worked out!
