The sweet stuff of life...

We've had a rough couple of days around here... more on that later. BUT, yesterday, I decided it would be fun to take Tatum to get her hair cut. She loved every minute of it, and was a very patient customer. Here's the mullet before:
And here she is after I "combed" her hair today. Not toomuch off, just a little trim to even it out, blend it together, and give her curly locks some shape.
As for the not so sweet stuff... our poor baby Goliath had his eye removed late last night. We took him in to the emergency vet after he seemed to be in more pain, and wouldn't let us use the eye drops. The original plan was to do a surgery to seal his inner eyelid (the filmy one) to help his eye heal. We got a call even later last night fromt he vet mid-surgery to tell us it looked worse than he'd thought. He said Goliath's eye was completely perforated and essentially collapsed. He explained that Goliath would never see out of it again and recommended it be removed, for Goliath's comfort. I can't say he looks too comfortable now, but believe we made the best big-picture decision.

It's sad and frustrating that this all might have been avoided had the boarding facility noticed the problem and treated it when it began. Still somehow it went un-noticed and here we are. The facility is being nice about the whole thing, and has assured us that they've implemented new daily "checking" policies. They've also communicated that they're open to filing a liability claim to help us with the costs of surgery, etc. As great as that all is... nothing makes it better when I look at his pitiful face. Thankfully, they say dogs are very resilient and soon he'll not be able to even tell a difference. I tell ya, as annoying as Goliath can sometimes be... I can't wait for him to feel better and be back to his pain-in-my-neck self.
