My little gentleman...

Have you ever had one of those moments as a mom that completely takes your breath away? There are some obvious ones... mostly the "firsts," like laying eyes on that sweet face for the first time, the first smile, first time they call you "mommy." Those are the moments that breathe life into an exhausted, overwhelmed mom.

But even those moments pale in comparison to the ones you're not waiting for... the sweet ones that happen when nothing seems new anymore, and the marathon of motherhood is taking it's toll.

Ones like this:

I'd been gone for about an hour, out shopping for a new dress. I found something I thought I liked, but when I got home, I decided to try it on for Nathan to see before I checked "dress" off my shopping list for our upcoming travels. Nathan and the kids were playing in the living room.

I walked in wearing the dress.... Trevor crosses the room to come to me, holds his hands up and says "Mommy, will you spin with me?" I wasn't quite sure what he was asking, so I asked him to repeat it. "You have to spin me Mommy." I assumed he wanted me to pick him up and spin him around, the way his Daddy usually does when they play together. I picked him up and he interrupts, "No, Mommy, not like that...not like that..." I set him down, and ask "What baby?" He then takes both of my hands in his...

"Like this mommy.... (holding my hands, taking steps) one, two, three... one, two, three."

And in that moment, I realized what he was doing. Tears filled my eyes at the absolute sweetness of a boy, who noticed his mommy was wearing a "special dress" and why in the world, would mommy be wearing a special dress, unless she needed someone to dance with.

Because you see, a few days before, we'd been watching this:

And evidently, he'd taken notes.
