These pics are proof for all of those who only see Tatum as the sweet, soft-spoken, shy little thing she sometimes pretends to be.... sweet as she is, she is a wild girl, full of life and laughs! It's hard to believe our baby girl is now THREE years old! Since the kids were born (or maybe before?) I started receiving emails from babycenter.com detailing the milestones of their development. The subject line in the emails begins as "your newborn this week..." and progress as the kids grow. This week, my inbox was so glaringly void of a subject-line I'd become very accustomed to seeing. Instead of reading "your toddler this week...." I had TWO emails with the subject "Your preschooler this week...." and a little part of me was sad.
As I watch my "bunched babies" grow into preschoolers, I look back on their toddler years with a whole new appreciation. Don't get me wrong, it was an insane time. Diapers up to my elbows, tantrums, and first ever time outs. Two babes in boosters at the table, double strollers, and lots of days that seemed to never end. But they were innocent, their needs were simple, their behaviors (even the disobedient ones) weren't any big deal. I watched them recognize each other as people, and then become friends.
Oh I know, I know...save your breath. I know this isn't the last time I'm going to look back with longing through the parenthood rear-view. (I just spent four days with my now teenaged siblings... they were babies once too. It seems impossible they could now be taller than I am!) Lucky for me, I've got a squishy, sweet, smiley little guy waiting in the wings to proudly claim that toddler title. Though he'd better not be in any hurry either! There is nothing more fleeting in this world than those days of babyhood! We're only three-months in and he's wearing some 9 month clothes... evidently he didn't get the memo.
Still need to post the pics from Tatum's actual party day... coming soon! P.S. Tatum's outfit is a handed down dance recital costume that belonged to her friend Aubrey... she LOVES it.
