Because it's not a book at all...

Lately, I can't help but notice my blog posting has been a bit lacking.... and it's buggin' me. I started this gig as an attempt to record the daily dealings of my sweet littles and well, there are more than a few gaps in Dynatot's recent history. Then today, I noticed a correlation....

The lesser the blogging, the greater the facebooking. and vice versa.

Let's be honest, jotting down a sentence or two on facebook is loads easier than cropping photos and forming paragraphs. However, in cutting blogger corners and relying on facebook, the point is lost. And if we're being honest, posting no longer becomes about chronicling precious details... it becomes about eliciting encouragement, laughs, or heck... just comments... or even more desperately "likes." sigh.

Lately, my facebook peeps are dropping like flies. There are a lot of reasons, and nearly all are different. But a central theme rings true for all... facebook is a time-waster. Too much of the time we invest in facebook, returns void. It serves no purpose that can't be better met by other means.

Connecting with others?
we all have a phone.

Encouraging one another?
what a weak attempt.

Voyeurism?
not exactly a virtue.

A mood booster on an off-day?
I serve a Savior who'd love to take a crack at that one...if I let Him.

And I would argue that any other purpose facebook may serve is likely an unhealthy one. Will I go and cancel my facebook account tomorrow? Probably not. My first effort will be to work on my own behavior, and if self-control proves to be hard to come by... then I'll likely cut the apron strings.

That said, I'm implementing a new feature on my blog. Essentially... I plan to post all the little things I'd otherwise post on facebook. They are the unforgettable moments that happen throughout every day... the hilarious things I hear and see... the sweetness of babydom, toddlerhood, childhood that will all-too-soon be gone from these walls. One day, I'll bind them in an actual book and stow them away to peruse on a rainy day. Like when they go off to college.

Right there with you Heather...there are days that I despise FB...it puts me in such a bad mood. I'm so glad you'll be blogging about those little moments here, because I love hearing about T&T...I feel like I know them even though they don't know me...lol!
