There was an old woman, who lived in a Twinkie...

At about 2:00am on Mother's Day, I just couldn't sleep. I realized Nathan was not in bed, and went downstairs to investigate. This is what I found: Nathan had waited until I went to bed (after 11:00pm) and decided to start RE-painting our playroom. What you see in the above picture is the first color attempt, with the words "Happy Mother's Day" written in the color of our final attempt. What you don't see, is the fact Nathan never wanted to paint the playroom in the first place. The room used to be yellow. It's one of three yellow rooms in our house. I was fine with the yellow, until we replaced our couches and well, the couches pretty much tipped the yellow scale in my mind and made me feel like I was living in a Twinkie. As soon as we moved them in, I told Nathan, "we HAVE to paint." Here is the room before: (Let's not talk about how adorably tiny Trevor is here... tears will flow people.)

Back to paint...Even though he saw no need for it, Nathan helped me painstakingly remove the toys, the blinds, tape like crazy, and move the latter around the room. When we finished, and I realized how wrong the color was, I knew it would take a few flyin' pigs before Nathan would venture to do it again. I assumed I'd re-paint it myself, and I was okay with that. Here is the room AFTER: And, we spent some time playing with our favorite little people. Here is my favorite girl, wearing her brother's favorites clothes: Those little legs make me smile.

Then, during naptime, Nathan and I worked in our front flower beds, adding some more wood chips and flowers. When the kids woke up, they helped "water" the plants. Here they are, on a mission:Tatum (in same t-shirt, which she may or may not have slept in the night before) thinks watering is super fun. Pretty much though, the kids just wanted to be here:They just couldn't get enough of their Daddy. This one was taken just before the kids' bedtime...though clearly Daddy could've probably crashed then too! Oh, and incidentally, here is a pic of the couch with the finished paint behind it. See what I mean? The new couches were given to us, and while they're 200% better than the old couches, the color palette is quite a bit different than what I had in mind. Now, thanks to my husband, the backdrop is now a cool green, and I no longer live in a Twinkie.

Beautiful! The paint, the thought, the kids. Can't wait to come over and trash your house :)
