S.O.S.

Okay people... I'm at my wits end. It would appear my baby girl has not developed the skill of self-soothing. This presents a somewhat Mt. Olympus scale problem...at least it seems to fit that description right now. She is crying. hard. in her crib.... and to make matters more fun, her brother just woke up (literally as I typed that sentence).

So... here's the Reader's Digest version. Tatum likes to be swaddled... busts out of it every time she goes through a sleep cycle and is then hysterical. We've been re-swaddling time and time again...but now she won't calm down enough for re-swaddle. Currently (as of an hour ago), we're using the sleep-sak...the girl's gotta get over the swaddle business.

So.. she goes nearly to sleep in mom's arms and I lay her in bed. She wakes 40 min. later... is hysterical. Arms flying, tears streaming... wants paci...but knocks it out with flying arms over and over.... becomes more hysterical.

Mom tries rocking, bouncing, singing, acrobatics...mylicon, nothing. works.

Mom knows baby girl's gotta learn to work this one out... walks out, and begins blogging to drown out the cries in the background.

Give me your advice... or encouragement, or your noise cancelling head phones...

And for the record... she really hasn't required much of us in the sleep department until now. From day one, she'd go to sleep on her own and stay asleep with the exception of needing a paci now and then. So... while it's possible, I really don't think we've made her dependent on us to go to sleep (by rocking, feeding, etc.). If we've got bad habits to break...I don't know what they are.

Wait.... what's this?! Quiet?! Maybe?! Please, please, please....

Nope.

But it was at least 2 minutes of serenity...maybe I'm on the right track.

Time to go grab the other screaming baby before he climbs the walls.
