Remember this project?!

The original plan was to crop it and use it as a photo mat for one of Trevor's better pics...well, that never happened. Instead, Tatum happened and it seemed fitting that she contribute a little to the project as well!

Now it's a done deal... and I love it! It needs a frame of some kind, some finishing touches, and a place to display it... all to be determined!

UPDATE: Here's a little info on how this was done...

Supplies:
  • Art Paper or Canvas
  • Paint brush- small and soft
  • Paint- I used many kinds of paint here (whatever I had...some watercolors, craft paint, etc.). Craft paint works best. No, it's not "non-toxic," or "green," or at all kid friendly. I recommend working quickly, and not letting them eat it.
  • Baby Wipes- used to clean baby's feet and the brush between colors.
  • Paper Plate- to hold paint.
  • Baby- one that doesn't move will make this MUCH easier. Trevor was 4 months, Tatum was 5. I did do a footprint project with Trevor when he was a year old (and walking). I just put him in his highchair so he couldn't get away. I put the tray on, so he couldn't really see what I was doing with his feet.
  • Baby Einstein Video- or whatever works to keep your baby still and occupied.

Method: Lay baby on the floor (on a blanket in case those wiggly feet get loose and hit the floor rather than the paper.) Use paint brush to paint the bottom of baby's foot and toes. Basically, gently stamp the baby's foot onto the paper, making sure it doesn't slide and pressing the toes down slightly. If planning to cover the whole page, start in the middle, and work your way out, so baby's bottom can rest on the blank, dry paper. Most likely, you'll be able to get 2-3 footprints each time you coat the baby's foot. When finished with a color, wipe off with a baby wipe and begin again!

I love it!!! I have been looking for a big piece of art to hang in our Play Room! I may just steal that idea and go get a big canvas to stamp feet all over!!! Great Job!!
