Peas Please...

Thanks to a handy blue curtain, I didn't see it. But if I had to guess, I'd say this is probably the facial expression that was on Tatum's face when she entered the world. It's one that we see quite a bit. It's not saying she's unhappy, or hungry, or tired, or wet, or bored, or any of the other 10 things a typical infant gives a rip about. Instead it says, "What is WRONG with you people?!" (insert heavy sigh).

In this case, she happens to be referring to the neon-green peas that I'm shoveling in her mouth. Let's talk about the color of these peas...I've decided to try my hand at making baby food again. I tried it with Trevor, AFTER he'd become accustomed to the jarred stuff... he wouldn't eat it...shocker. To steal a phrase from my friend Mary, I made about 2 batches, and "punted"... jars of baby food were a staple in his diet up until 2 months before his sister was born (at least then he was still eating veggies).

This time around, I'm thinking (hoping, praying) that introducing Tatum to "real" food from the get-go might ease the transition into "people food" once she's ready and might make for a less than picky eater. It's all great in theory...we'll see what happens. Back to the color of the peas... I'm not so much disturbed by the bright green color of THESE (I mean, green is good, right?!). I'm actually concerned about the NON-green color of the jars of peas in comparison. How does that happen? Actually, don't tell me... I may need to "punt" again with the whole baby food making biz... and I prefer blissful ignorance.
This pic proves even though she's probably smarter than all of us, and finds our way of life far beneath her... she is patient and loving and quick to forgive. Who could ask for more?!

I'll be totally impressed if you make her food--I never even tried! I love to cook too so I'm not sure why. Lord knows Ty could've benefited from some help in the food-acceptance department! She's adorable-love that face!

Feel free to use the punting philosophy from now on in life...

She's so cute!! Good Luck! I made all of Ryder's baby food and he ate anything I put in front of him forever. You name it..squash, peas, carrots. I would make spaghetti, pot roast, etc...and then puree it all and put it in ice trays. Now, the Boy won't eat at all. Seriously, I don't know what to do. No vegetables, no meat (outside of fish sticks). Pretty much he eats bread and fruit. It is really, really frustrating. I keep thinking he is going to starve, but he is darn heavy so I guess not. Let me know if you figure out any good tricks!
