The Learning Curve... #1 (more to come I'm sure)

  • You know your kids are close in age when: Yesterday, after getting dressed for the day, I sprayed some perfume. I remembered that the perfume was given to me as a gift when Trevor was born (thanks Melissa!) I laughed out loud when I realized I have had two children while using the same small bottle of perfume, and I wear it EVERY day.

  • I've noticed that somehow, against all odds, things seem to be getting done around here. Dare I admit MORE is getting done than was done before Tatum arrived? The reason? I've found the CURE for procrastination...eliminate ALL free-time! It's quite simple, when there is no guaranteed "later," the phrase "I'll do it later" is ridiculous, there is only "now."

  • Old women give you dirty looks when you're shopping with one baby in a cart and another tiny baby in an infant carrier. I'm not sure why?! These same ladies seemed so encouraging when I was pregnant and they'd stop me to say "Wow, you're going to have you're hands full!" I suppose maybe those dirty looks are from all the ones telling me "I told you so."

  • I predict that within 4 months, I will walk into the kitchen one day to find Trevor standing on top of the kitchen table, giving himself applause. That boy can MOVE...and because he knows I have nothing else to worry about, is learning to climb higher and higher each day. He especially likes to climb with a tile floor beneath him to break his fall.

  • I am going to begin reading nutrition labels on dog food... not for Goliath's sake, but for Trevor's. If he's going to eat it, I might as well make sure there is some lasting benefit.

I know why old women give you dirty looks... it's jealousy - they're thinking to themselves "How in the world can she have a child that young, with a newborn, and look that good?"

Nathan's comment...so sweet! Ok laughed through the whole post. Girl you are living what we just lived through-and handling it better than I did that's for sure! Can you imagine the looks I'm getting NOW? Big belly, one throwing a huge fit and one still drinking a bottle because she is so behind developmentally :) people look at me like,"either you've been drinking or you're gonna need to start drinking heavily soon!" I remember hoping she would move late, no crawling, etc. God might have taken my requests literally!! She was so good to sit in a bouncy seat for her first 6 months!!

Oh next time you try Willow Bend let me meet you there...I can head off the comments for you by saying that I've got your back :) I took them to the playground yesterday, (outside,) and had to leave because Ty was going to the tall playground where I'm convinced he can fall off and wouldn't obey me and stay on the little one...it was a nightmare. Thankfully those are few and far between the older he gets. The more the older one will listen, the better you'll be. Yes, she will be less active. She has to be!!
