I am looking for opinions on baby slings. With Trevor, we used a Baby bjorn and it seemed to work well...but he was at least a few months old before we used it. (Okay... I just looked through our photos to find the one above and see that he was only a week or so old when we first used the bjorn. But look at his poor little legs and arms?! They look so cold and exposed...)
Well, even though we may have tried Trevor in it when he was tiny, I know we didn't use it regularly until he was older. Given that this time around, I'll be chasing after Trevor (who will be 14 months), I am thinking it might be a good idea to find a baby sling I can feel okay about using from the get-go. Trouble is, there are five gazillion types, styles, and brands out there. SO, please help me... which one works best for itty bitty babies, is most comfortable, and affordable?! If you have a recommendation, please also let me know where to find it!FYI, all is well with the pregnancy so far. I had an uneventful appointment yesterday, which is always a good thing. I am measuring fine, weight is fine, and unbelievably, I am not swollen at ALL yet! (those who saw me pregnant with Trevor know I developed "cankles" and stopped wearing my wedding ring at like 5 months along!) I have an appointment on the 19th and then we begin the weekly visits. The plan is to have another sonogram soon so we can see how big our little Tater-tot will be. (Note: typing "big" and "tater tot" in the same sentence made me think of Napoleon Dynamite and laugh out loud).

I've been through them all, I think. :o)
First - I'd highly recommend thebabywearer.com. Huge wealth of info on both types of slings, and retailers.
Second - for an itty bitty, they like to be warm, cozy, cuddled, smushed up... so Moby's get rave reviews, and a lot of people like pouches, also (I have a slingling pouch). Charlotte hated the pouch, though, until she was bigger... so next baby, I'll probably go with a Moby for when they're itty bitty. Once they get a little bigger, and want to look around more, and your needs change - there are other types that I love, but I think a Moby can be used for a long time. You can also buy them used on TBW, FYI. Which is a great thing, in my opinion - b/c they can be pricy and different ones work better for different babies. I hatedhatedhated the bjorn and the snuggli, though. They killed my back, and the baby never seemed comfy.
Well, I may not be the best one here but I used the Bjorn constantly from when she came out--I didn't use it nearly as much with Ty. With her, since it was winter, (like you,) I found that since you pretty much leave them in a footed onesie all day, I could put her in there whenever I needed to, out or in, and she would be happy. She was/is a snuggler and she loved the Bjorn. I guess we took extra time with her to make sure it fit comfortably, which makes all the difference. When I had to take them both somewhere, I always got out of the car, strapped it to me, then put her in it before I even got Ty out of the car. The first few outings were a little humorous but then we figured out the system. Are you getting a double stroller? I'd HIGHLY recommend one--I have used it at least three times every day since she was born. I got a side by side one, and I'm happy with mine for sure. Since Ty was also exactly 14 mo. old when she was born, like Trevor, he can't always obey yet...so strap him into something!!
Clara liked the Bjorn as well. There were times (gasp!) when she wanted to be held but I HAD to get something done, so I put her in the Bjorn and bounced her around the house while I started dinner or loaded the washer! I'll be interested to hear what you decide on this time!
Girl, I wore Abby in a hotsling (the nice ones, not the ones from Target - hit up Baby Gap or hotslings.com) for the entire first six months of her life. Could not survive without it.
Okay the peppermint bark recipe is one of my many "just eyeball it" recipes but I'm going to make it later and I'll send you the measurements...if things fall apart and I don't make it I promise I'll give it to you in the next few days!
