A Little Sugar and Spice...

Here is Tatum's room from the doorway... the walls went from dark, dark, brown to barely pink. I made the letters from her name using canvas boards, scrap book paper, wooden letters and ribbon. Yes, I know it's crooked- that's what you get when you "eye ball" it from the get-go!

I love that this room was mostly pieced together with stuff we already had or found on the cheap! The bookshelf was originally blue, and in Trevor's closet, the glider was a garage sale find for $40, that I re-covered. The bedding was given to us by our sweet friends the Allens! Thank you so much for sharing- it is perfect for Tatum and we love it!

I love that we were able to keep this bed in Tatum's room. Her room had been our guest room and this bed was once the focal point. It is an antique, that has been in my family for quite some time. My grandfather was actually born in this bed... (yes, it has a new mattress for those thinking "ew"). This bed and I have become close friends during pregnancy...the mattress is firm and more comfortable than the one in our room...

Ahh, the glider. It has been a source of anxiety for me for several weeks leading up to this past weekend. The reason? It was in desperate need of re-covering and I do not sew- at all! My awesome friend Jenny was kind enough to help me shop for fabric, then bring her machine over to give me a lesson. She sewed the back cushion while our boys played and I bombarded her with questions. Then, the next day or so, I finished the seat, the arms and the ottoman. I can definitely say the sewing bug has bit...and I am ready to go buy a machine! The possibilities are endless!

This armoire is also one of my fav things. It was once in my parent's house and my mom put a lot of TLC into making it look and function great. It's filled with Tatum's clothes... and believe it or not, she's already outgrown it... I guess we WILL have to finish cleaning out the closet after all.

There are still a few details that we need... I'd like to put some more art on the walls, throw pillows on the bed, etc... but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out! Mostly, I love walking up the stairs and seeing her open doorway with the glow from the lamp and the pink walls. It sinks in a little more each time... a place for our little girl... what an incredible blessing!

How did I miss this post? Oh my I love her room!! You've done a great job using what you have and making it completely different-great work on your part saving $$ and converting things to a girly style. I knew you'd like the pic of my kids from last year--I had to either laugh when that stuff happened or sob and I did my fair share of both. Ty was the harder of the two though, (still is by a long shot) so I have great hope that Mr. Trevor will be much more patient with Tatum taking over for a while :) p.s. I gave our borrowed glider back to my sis-in-law about two months before we found out about this baby...oops. She already had it recovered to match her older-children house so I'm in the market. Especially a cheap one! I know how to sew straight lines but my mom is a champion seamstress so if you see another one, let me know!
