Oh this boy. It's been a while since I've written anything about mister Trey and with good reason! There has been nothing to report! Here we are, nearly two years after all those "wait and see's" began. We've been waiting, and we've been seeing that our boy is very full of joy, very full of life, and is soaking-in every good and perfect thing about this world. Trey is funny, and feisty. He is also uncharacteristically almost-two in that one of his favorite "look what I can do" skills involves taking deep, slow breaths, and "calming down." It's remarkable. It's wonderful. Truth is, he's mostly an easy-going guy these days. His vocabulary is improving and my-oh-my does that help!
We caved on the pacifier. We took it away for about a week, and then realized how much we'd love to sleep again. I'm thinking we missed the window when it came to taking it away, and therefore we're waiting. Waiting until he's you know, older, more rational... you know, like maybe three?!? Faulty logic maybe.
Our last Scottish Rite visit was horribly dramatic, but having learned the WRONG way to attempt an abdominal ultrasound with a toddler, we will be more prepared next time. He will likely have scans every six months until he's older, but our Orthopedist told us Trey is doing great, and that we don't need to see him again until he's maybe 3 years old. Trey is steady on his feet, and gaining speed by the day. He is RUNNING!
I'm incredibly grateful for our season of "wait and see" in that it taught this Mommy to wage war against the enemy of fear. I've learned to trust, really trust, that God's plan for my kiddos is perfect, no matter what it might look like. My job as their Mommy isn't to spin my wheels, building hedges of protection around their bodies, or their emotions. My job is to show them, not just tell them, that they can trust God with every turn. Hurts will happen. He is there. He promises us both, every minute, of every day.
We are having a blast this summer, soaking in the joys of childhood. School is just around the corner. I can't believe my big kid is about to go to Kindergarten! This train just keeps going faster!
