Let's Party!

This boy absolutely melts my heart. We partied this weekend, Mickey-style and guy-smiley had a BLAST. The first of our three who actually enjoyed their cake! It probably helps that he's already fallen in love with sweet things- Nilla wafers are his pride and joy.

Sweet cousins. These sisters are almost exactly Trevor and Tatum's ages. It warms my heart to know we weren't the only ones in the family with babies crazy-close together. Olivia is about 6 weeks younger than Trevor, and Claire is 3 months younger than Tatum.

Miss Tatum... A Mickey-style party meant she got to dress in her Minnie dress. She loved it.

This is the "because I got all crafty with your siblings first birthday parties, you shall have at least one handmade item too" part of the party. A super-simple monthly photo banner for his first year.

Trey's awesome uncle Josh and aunt Jackie gave Trey this hat. He is now in hat-training... learning how NOT to throw off a hat because well, c'mon... is that not the cutest thing ever?!

We had a great time celebrating you little man!

After the party, we took Trey out for a trip around the block in his new ride. He LOVED it.

This car is an example of one of the thousands of things that have changed in the years since my last baby. Ha! I love how I talk as if my last baby is 25 years old. However, when it comes to baby gear- things change about every 5 seconds. Any mom who gets caught in the trap of having the "latest and greatest" will soon find that baby gear revisions happen about every 6 months. And unfortunately, your fabulous stroller, diaper bag, bottles or gadgets will be old news possibly before your baby ever uses it.

The upside of that, is that you don't have to wait very long for product improvements to come along. We've all seen these little push cars, and wrestled them around turns by rocking baby backwards, lifting the front wheels. Well folks, they finally fixed it! This little car actually has a swivel wheel in the front! With one turn of a lever, the swivel wheel drops down and the car suddenly turns on a dime. For anyone on the lookout for a pusharound car like this- skip the hand-me-downs and go for the upgrade. It is WELL worth it!
