…as if Bluebonnet pictures were an annual tradition around here. Truth be told, before now, I’d never come within 20 feet of a Bluebonnet and frankly, was a little spooked by the whole idea. Despite the loads of beautiful Bluebonnet pics I’d seen over the years, I’d only ever pictured the experience as a terrible one. I thought certainly, anyone dumb enough to sit in a Bluebonnet field would most likely be eaten alive by snakes, spiders, or at the very least, the biggest mosquitos known to man. And if not swarmed to death, I would most likely fall prey to heat stroke in the blazing Texas sun. I would NEVER do that, let alone serve my squishy little baby up for the taking. And then, I changed my mind. I decided as long as I didn’t have to drive too far out onto the unpaved Texas rural routes, it might be okay. And when I heard there were a few patches of flowers within a mile of the Dallas North Tollway… well, that sealed the deal.
These pics are only one part of a two-part day. The first part of the day, we headed to the scene with our good friends, and got a lot of squinty-eyed, cranky faced pictures of kids who really loved the idea of trampling a million flowers, but weren’t too keen on paparazzi. We met Daddy at the same field at the shaded, agreeable, end of the day.
Oh, and as a side note… I also accepted after this photo effort that I am unlikely to get a picture of all three of my children together, smiling, or at least looking at the camera, for a couple more years.
