Thanksgiving Pot-Luck Post...

So many things to blog about, so little time! I typically don't like mixed-up posts, but at this rate, I know if I don't get it up now, I'll be so woefully behind it might never happen! You know those catch-up phone conversations you have that start to sound like a ping-pong match as you swap stories? This is like that, except...well, I'm not on the phone, and these are all my stories...

To begin with, let me state for the record, I am NOT a fan of time changes. That one measly night where we "gained an hour" evidently meant we'd "lose an hour" for the next 900 years since my beloved first-born didn't get the memo. It didn't help that three days before the change hit, he'd figured out how to dismantle the "child proof" door-knob cover on the inside of his bedroom door. Translation: The child who is now waking an hour earlier, is also appearing in front of my face an hour earlier.

Then we found the solution. Brace yourselves, you're gonna love this...

Genius. This product is pure genius. It's a night-light. It teaches your toddler when to stay, and when to get up. It plugs into the wall, and has an alarm. During sleeping hours, it displays the moon face, and at waking hour, it automatically switches to the shining sun. It looks like this:

The best part? It actually works. Trevor absolutely loved the look of his light, and after a little demo, he was super excited to put it to use. The first morning, he got up, but went back to bed when we reminded him to wait for the sunshine. And when the sun first appeared, he was so excited he couldn't contain himself. Since then, he has stayed in his bed every morning until the sun appears. Most mornings, he wakes before the switch, and will lay in bed, (and sometimes fall back asleep!) while waiting for it. When he wakes and sees the sun shining, he is excited to start his day. Click on the logo to go to their website.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, my mom is one of the most thoughtful people I know. Every now and then, I check out Lisa Leonard's beautiful blog. She sometimes showcases little shops on the California coast near where my mom lives. So, I'll send my mom the info and tell her to go shop so I can live vicariously through her. The other day, I got a surprise package in the mail, and this was inside! It's one of Lisa's necklaces...isn't it beautiful?! I love it.

Trevor had his first Thanksgiving party at preschool. This year, the teachers decided to have a true Thanksgiving feast, and joined with another class at lunch time. My job was to provide the veggie tray. After a little research, I found a really cute, easy, idea...

Gobble. Gobble. Lord willing, that's the closest to preparing a Thanksgiving turkey that I'll ever be. I know it's incredibly un-American, but I'm really just not a fan of turkey, or any Thanksgiving foods for that matter. Unless if maybe Pioneer Woman cooked the meal. Did ya'll see her with Bobby Flay on Throwdown? Yum-O. And coming from me, that's sayin' somethin.' Actually, I'm beginning my campaign to make Mexican food the official food of Thanksgiving.

Last night, we headed out to share in the fun of a Tree-lighting ceremony in a little shopping center near us. The kids had a blast. They were selling light-up Rudolf noses...

And these two walked around like they owned the place. Love. Yes, that's a toy doctor bag, and she wore it on her arm, Sophia style, nearly all night.

This is just because I love this boy, and he got a cool new tool-belt from his uncle Bryan and he's suddenly 12 years old. And this is because I love this girl, and she got a new chair, and last night, it matched her PJ's.

The End.
