It's been a week since I blogged? How does that happen? You'd think we've been on some super-exciting vacation or something... if only. Truth is, we've been up to the same-ol'-same-ol'. Well, for the most part...
This past Friday night, I was completely beat. The kids had been less than agreeable for a bit too long and the monotony of mommyhood was biting at my heels. As I walked upstairs to go to bed Friday, I turned and told Nathan "I need a break,"... "I know when I'm not looking forward to the next day, I need a break."
"You'll get one in the morning right?" Ha. Funny.
My Saturday morning line up included a Weight Watchers meeting and weigh-in at 7:30am, followed by some garage sale shopping with a friend. Though, my friend said she had to be home by 9:00... and when I reminded my husband that some of the time, the kids sleep until 8:30... the whole idea of "break" seemed ridiculous. He laughed. He agreed.
Saturday came, I met the WW meeting with weight-loss (always a good thing) and enjoyed spending time scoring lots of Melissa and Doug puzzles and board books for $.50 a piece. At 9:00am, my friend drops me at my door and I see a Hallmark card waiting outside the front door.

I open the card, and read:
"Heather, I love you very much and appreciate everything you do and everything about you. Now, go check your email and enjoy your day!"
With card in hand, I run to my friend's car to show it to her. She stops me mid-sentence and says "I already know! I already know! YOU'RE the one who had to be home by 9:00am!"
I rush inside to check my email and find a message from my husband detailing the events of the day. He had arranged for my in-laws to keep Tatum for the day, while he spent some one-on-one time with Trevor. My friend Jenny, who I've known since I was 14, but had not seen in weeks, was coming to the house in an hour to pick me up.
And she did... and then we had a wonderful pedicure, and hot-rock massage. Followed by lunch, then shopping at my new favorite store "Charming Charlie" I'm always at least 5 years late on any new trend...so forgive me if it's old to everyone but me! All I know is I scored some rockin' jewelry, a purse and a sweet little contacts case for about $20!
After that, I headed back home where I laid eyes on my sweet littles for the first time ALL day. I spent about 30 min with them, before our sitter came over so Nathan and I could head to dinner and a movie.
Now, looking back... it really IS funny. Let's rewind.
last Friday evening:
Me: "Nathan, I need a break."
Nathan: "Well, you'll get one in the morning right?"
Me: "Well, yes... thanks to my amazing husband who anticipates my needs before I even speak them... thanks to YOU, I will."

That is very sweet, Heather! He's so thoughtful! I love Charming Charlie...I just recently found it, too. Very cool store! Glad you are refreshed. I get a weekend to get refreshed coming up and I can't wait! You are a great momma and wife and deserved the break!
I've never met Nathan, but he sounds like the best thing since sliced bread. Wow. How amazing Saturday must have been! I have had days where I feel like I need a break...sometimes I feel like I have more of those than not. And then one of sweet littles does something that melts my heart and I couldn't imagine doing anything other than what I am doing.
I ♥ Garage Sales, too!!! I'm way out of the loop...have no idea what Charming Charlie is, but it sounds fabulous!
