If he's this smart, we'd better all be scared...

My kid makes me laugh.... hard. I love that about him. This morning, like most mornings, involved me checking email while Tatum napped and Trevor played in the living room. The TV was on, Curious George's Ooh-Aahs serenaded us in the background, and all was well. I began to hear the distinct clicking sound of the TV going on and off. This meant Trevor had climbed on top of the strategically placed ottoman (wedged against the front of the TV armoire) and was sitting on top of it, within 2 inches of the TV screen, pressing buttons.

When I'm a better mommy, I immediately stop what I'm doing, go tell Trevor to get down, and follow through with time-out if he fails to cooperate. Today, not being a better-mommy day, I decided to finish what I was doing and let this one go. Before long, the on-off clicking stopped and no sounds were coming from the TV. I go to investigate and find that Trevor had pressed the TV/Video button, turning off the cable, switching it to DVD mode. He was now standing beside the ottoman, staring at a black screen with the words "VIDEO 1" in the corner. His eyes meet mine and he says "Nine Nine?" "Bits it?"

I know. To most it's jibber jabber... but to mommy, this meant "I've got this all ready for you, could you turn on Baby Einstein?" See... "Nine Nine" is "Einstein" and "Bits it?" is "fix it" which is what he says EVERY time an Einstein DVD finishes and rolls over to the menu screen (see video):

So, there you have it. My child is either genius or has developed an unhealthy attachment to "Nine Nine" to such a degree that he has taught himself to turn it on.... like I said, it was not a better-mommy day.

Awesome! I'm just glad that I am not the only one who has those days when I am not a "better-mommy"! LOL!
