Like father, like son...

Just last night, I was talking with a group of girl friends about how Nathan busted me giving Trevor a piece of a super delicious chocolate chunk cookie. It wasn't that Nathan was worried so much about Trevor's nutrition in general... he was more worried about Trevor's exposure to cookies, specifically. The scene went something like this:

Mom sits in living room chair, cookie in hand.

Trevor glances at mommy, makes note of cookie and heads her way.

Trevor stands in front of mommy and promptly gives the sign for "more" then "please."

Mom, being so impressed with Trevor's signing efforts, and unable to resist those baby blues, hands Trevor a piece of the cookie.

Enter Nathan (somewhat surprised): "Did you just give him a piece of that cookie?!"

Mom (sheepishly): "Yes"

Nathan: "Did it have chocolate in it?"

Mom: "Yes"

Nathan stares at Mommy with look of disapproval.

Mom: "I hate to break it to you, but this isn't his first bite."

Nathan's look of disapproval somehow reaches another, more disapproving level.

Nathan: "What if he has some genetic predisposition to becoming addicted to cookies like me?"

The cookie was from a box we bought from the Tom Thumb bakery. These cookies are enormous, and they are delicious. It's actually a little embarrassing how quickly a container of said cookies seems to disappear in our house. Then again, anyone who knows my husband knows what a huge fan of cookies he is....so maybe the empty containers shouldn't be so surprising. Today, Trevor emerged from the laundry room, having just inspected the recycle bin, looking like this:

A cookie container in each hand.

Soooo cute! I'm sure he loved it! Sean is always trying to put straight water in the kids' cups instead of at least part juice (like I do) and lately Ty has been bringing me his cup after Sean fills it and saying,"help mommy." Seam figured it out and has been getting on to me-but you know they DRINK it when I fill it! Don't want them to get dehydrated...and my kids don't eat veggies or fruit so juice is the closest thing :)

You should know that my "addiction" to chocolate chip cookies is no small thing... having a stash of cookies in the house is like having toilet paper, in my mind. So when I worry about our son being predisposed to liking such things, it is a legitimate concern! The only reason I don't weigh 350 lbs right now is b/c I was fortunate enough to play soccer my entire life. But what if Trevor isn't athletic at all?? If he eats like I did/do, he's going to always be a little chunk... !

Soo Funny!!! Your description of what Nathan said made me laugh!! Guys are too funny!!! Ryder has a huge sweet tooth, too! Matt always has concerns about how healthy he eats. He is always telling me how he wants Ryder to eat healthier than he did as a kid and doesn't ever want him to be in a position where he has a complex about his weight! I never know guys were so concerned about this stuff!

Well.... look at the bright side. I woke up yesterday morning and took a picture of Morgan (Like Father Like Daughter) having grabbed a wine bottle out of the recycle bin. Daddy drinks a small bottle of wine a night, seems to relax the ADD in him. LOL But if Morgan is anything like her daddy.... I must keep her away from sniffing out the bottle of wine out of recycle bin. LOL

Thankfully sweet tooth doesn't run in our family, none of us eat deserts and or crave them. I can't imagine that kind of addiction.

But I can't blame mama...sign language and blue eyes. Awe!!!
